Pockets of air are created when the alpaca fiber is spun creating a light fabric. Alpaca fiber wicking properties are important in keeping moisture away from the skin so that it stays warm or cool and dry. ALPACA WOOL DOES NOT ITCH! The natural properties of alpaca fleece makes it stain, odor, wind and flame resistant (it will not melt). With a semi hollow core alpaca fiber insulates while allowing for warmth and breathability.   Alpaca fiber is soft, luxurious, warm, cool and able to wick moisture. Alpaca is hypoallergenic. We Grow Green, You Can Too!

Alpacas are shorn once a year and the harvest of the fiber does not involve the death of the animal. It is a hypoallergenic fabric because it does not contain lanolin, dander or chemicals. The processing does not involve harsh detergents and it is biodegradable. There are up to 22 different colors of alpacas but if you wish to use dye, it can be done with organic dyes. The fiber will absorb the color easily.

Alpacas have a soft pad on the bottom of their feet, minimizing damage done to the soil and pastures. With small tongues and no top teeth, alpacas will not pull roots. This creates far less disturbance to the vegetation. Alpacas will poop in one pile making for easy clean up and it serves as a natural fertilizer for pastures and gardens. The "beans" have a slow release of nitrogen so it will not burn the roots or plant.
